General Manager-The Backbencher Gastropub
Reports to:Owners of The Backbencher
We are looking for an experienced hospitality professional to lead the day-to-day operations of the iconic Backbencher Gastropub and in time play a key role in a refresh and strategic update.
The successful candidate can be assured of a high level of autonomy and influence in shaping the next chapter in one of the capital's and NZ's best known pubs.
With a strong focus on craft beers, great food and an unmistakable link to parliament the time is right for the General Manager to help drive this offering forward with its experienced owners.
Job tasks and responsibilities
The GM is responsible for all aspects of operations, day-to-day management and customer service/satisfaction.
She/he will be an ambassador for the Backbencher brand, ensuring all decisions all decisions are made in the best interests of the business and customer expectations.
She/he will provide leadership and strategic planning to all departments in support of a sales and service culture, maximised effective operations and full customer satisfaction.
She/he will work closely and in tandem with the owners.
She/he will be responsible for managing all duty managers, supervisors and meeting budget targets and profitability.
Of specific responsibility will be table/bar service and procedures (upselling) and marketing (social media presence).

Skills and experience
The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate a track record of successfully managing similar hospitality venues/businesses and provide examples of the required skills and attributes to do so.
She/he should show a genuine enthusiasm for hospitality (sales and service), food, beverage and marketing.
